So, whenever I book an international trip, I like to get the visa sorted before I even start thinking about restaurants, tours or what to pack. Egypt is not an exception either.
There are various entry options, like entry without visa, entry with eVisa, with VoA, or stickers visa and for the one you need It depends on your nationality and your travel plans. So it’s worth checking which applies to you before booking your flight.
Egypt e-Visa or Visa on Arrival?
For eligible travellers, an Egypt e-Visa can be arranged online before the journey. This can be a convenient choice because you can have your travel document ready before reaching the airport.
Egypt also has an Offer Visa on Arrival option for eligible nationalities. In 2026, Egypt began introducing a digital Visa on Arrival process at Cairo International Airport, using a QR code as a part of the new system.
But I wouldn't choose an option just because another traveller used it. Visa rules are and yes it can be different depending on your passport.
The safest approach is to check the current requirements for your nationality first.
What Should You Prepare?
Once you know which visa option applies to you, check your documents carefully.
Your passport should meet the required validity period, and your personal information should match exactly in all your passport, visa application, and other travel documents.
I would also keep my hotel booking, return or onward flight details, and a copy of my visa information somewhere easy to access.
Small preparations like these can save a lot of stress later.
Don't Leave It Until the Last Minute
This is one part of travel planning I would never postpone.
If you're applying for an e-Visa, give yourself enough time for the application to be processed. Egypt's official e-Visa website advises applicants to create their application at least seven days before departure.I'd personally start earlier if possible. That gives you time to check anything that may need correcting. Before travelling, check the latest official information because visa rules and procedures can change.Once the visa side is sorted, the fun part begins. You can focus on choosing your hotel, planning your sightseeing, and deciding whether you want to see the pyramids, cruise the Nile, or spend a few relaxing days by the Red Sea.For me, getting the paperwork done early is one of the easiest ways to start a holiday feeling relaxed.
