iPad Pro 13 from Portland to Ahmedabad: the savings even after paying customs duty

Prices checked on 1 November 2026: Apple's US store lists the 13-inch iPad Pro (Wi-Fi, 256GB, standard glass) at $1,499. Apple India lists the same model at ₹1,99,900. Oregon has no general sales tax, so a traveler buying in Portland pays the shelf price. At the CBIC customs exchange rate (US$1 = ₹95.90, Notification 29/2026), $1,499 is about ₹1,43,754.

If the whole ₹75,000 allowance goes to this iPad, the duty on the remaining ₹68,754 is about ₹24,064. The total comes to about ₹1,67,818, which is still about ₹32,082 less than the Indian price. (The rules also allow one new laptop, "including notepad", free for each adult passenger. Whether a tablet counts is customs' call, so the figure above assumes duty is paid.)
