Kremona Classical Guitars: 7 Common Buying Mistakes to Avoid

If you’re thinking about kremona classical guitars, I completely understand the excitement. You see that warm wood, imagine your fingers moving across nylon strings, and suddenly you’re thinking, “Should I just buy this one?” Hold on. I’ve been there too. With a classical guitar, the little details can change how the instrument feels every time we play it.

So, before you buy kremona guitar, let’s slow down for a minute and look at seven mistakes I’d genuinely want you to avoid.

1. Choosing by Appearance Alone

Beautiful guitar? Absolutely. But beautiful does not automatically mean comfortable.

When we look at Kremona guitars, I’d pay attention to the neck shape, scale length, body size, and overall balance. A guitar can look gorgeous on a wall and still feel awkward in our lap.

Pick it up. Sit with it. Let your hands decide.

2. Assuming Every Kremona Feels the Same

This one catches people off guard.

Kremona makes classical guitars across different levels, from student-oriented instruments to more advanced models. Their construction, woods, appointments, and setup can vary considerably.

If you’re comparing kremona guitars for sale, don’t stop at the brand name. Compare the actual model. Ask yourself: Is this meant for where I am now, or am I paying for features I won’t really use?

3. Ignoring the Setup

Here’s a little secret that can save us a lot of frustration: sometimes the guitar isn’t the problem. The setup is.

String height, neck relief, saddle height, and fret condition all influence playability. If the action feels unnecessarily high, especially around the upper positions, don’t immediately decide that classical guitar is “hard to play.”

A good technician can often make a meaningful difference.

4. Buying Without Checking the Top and Neck

I always think we should give the instrument a quiet inspection before handing over our money.

Look closely at the soundboard for unusual cracks, especially around the bridge and edges. Check the bridge for lifting. Sight along the neck and look for anything that seems noticeably twisted or uneven.

Buying used? Please, don’t let the bargain price hypnotize you.

5. Treating Tonewood Like a Magic Formula

You may see spruce or cedar and think, “Ah, so this one must sound better.” Not quite.

Top wood influences tonal character, but bracing, construction, finish, strings, setup, and the individual instrument all matter. Cedar often gives us a warm, responsive voice, while spruce can offer a clearer, more immediate character, but those are tendencies, not guarantees.

Your ears should get the final vote.

6. Forgetting About the Strings

Classical guitars use nylon or nylon-based strings, and the string choice can noticeably affect response and tone.

Before you buy kremona guitar, ask what strings are installed. If you’re buying used, find out when they were last changed. Old strings can make a perfectly good guitar sound dull and lifeless.

Sometimes the sparkle is simply waiting for a fresh set of strings.

7. Chasing the Cheapest Deal

I know. The lowest price is tempting.

But when we search kremona guitars for sale, price should be only one part of the decision. A slightly more expensive instrument with a better setup, healthier construction, and comfortable neck may give us years of happier playing.

That matters.

Before You Bring One Home

When I’m choosing among kremona guitars, I like to keep three questions in my head:

  • Does it feel comfortable after ten minutes, not just ten seconds?
  • Does the instrument respond naturally to my playing?
  • Am I buying the right model for my current ability and musical goals?

If the answer is yes, that’s when I’d start smiling.

A classical guitar should not feel like something we simply purchased. It should feel like an invitation to sit down, slow the evening down, and play one more piece before dinner.

And honestly, isn’t that the feeling we were looking for in the first place?
