The Real Cost of DIY SEO for LA Businesses: A 6-Month Experiment

Maria opened her boutique fitness studio in West Hollywood, intending to manage SEO herself. The question was, how difficult could this be? Six months and $12,000 of lost revenue later, she had an answer.

The competition was 3 blocks away from her, SoulCycle, who is working with a digital marketing company in L.A and has the #2 rank for the same search term.

The outcome of all the DIY efforts had moved Maria from position #47 to position #43 — a move of four positions in two months.

The Tool Trap (Months Three and Four)

Maria believed that purchasing tools would help her improve her search engine ranking so she tried several tools and subscribed to:
